poems and other wordplay

happy

there’s a smiley face on the front of my head

i keep it there as long as i can

the only time i take it off

is when it starts to hurt me

power

yesterday i ate the sky

and now my tummy hurts

i think the birds disagree with me

osaka

[pause]

integrate west and east

and failing that, keep west in my pocket

[flow]

seek to understand east

and failing that, fake as much as i can

[merge]

i live in the un-melting pot

of the eastern islands

and i am slowly melting

with my facade intact

[do]

i follow the sheep into

their little pens . . .

[ache]

. . . and stand there heads above them all

with blank stares shooting towards my hair,

my face, my hands, my clothes.

[run].
